Blogging is slow this week because I am fighting off some flu-like symptoms. I think it's because the weather in Southern California can't seem to make up it's mind if it wants to be summer or fall.
But regardless of the season outside, this lovely tree bookshelf from designer Shawn Soh would brighten up any room!
Wouldn't it be great to see this as the centerpiece of decor at a child's birthday party? Especially one where guests were asked to gift their favorite children's book, rather than a toy-type gift? And guests can place their gifts on the bookshelf as they come in!
I would LOVE to be invited to that party and would probably have a hard time narrowing down the book selection. Eddie's choice would be Sideways Stories From Wayside School. If I really had to choose, it might be between any of the Berenstain Bears books for a younger child and for a slightly older child, something from the Ramona Quimby series, The Ghosts Who Went to School or From the Mixedup Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. Which reminds me! They made a movie about Fantastic Mr. Fox! And it's coming out right before my birthday! woot. Roald Dahl was another one of my favorite authors, and this book was a classic! I remember my sister reading it to me before bed and dreaming of the feasts! (My sister is to be much credited for my love of reading and writing!)
I don't know why I have been on a rant about books and classic-book-themed events lately. It must be the weather getting to me again. The crisp, dry, autumn air and Santa Ana winds always make me want to curl up with some hot cocoa and revisit/become reacquainted with an old familiar book... My apologies! I promise to put a stop to all these book-related posts and get back to regular wedding-planning posts soon!
But just to humor me, what book would you take as a guest to such a party? Maybe I can add it to my list!
