stamps, check! invites, check! addresses... oh crap!

Monday, April 20, 2009

So another piece of advice we have is to round up the addresses of your guests ahead of time :) This may be a little difficult if you haven't finalized a guest list yet... so don't do it too far in advance, but give yourself enough time to not drive yourself crazy! You don't want to ask for someone's address a year before your wedding, and not keep in touch with them for a year and then not invite them to your wedding! But you also don't want to be like us and be scrambling for addresses while your gocco'ing (hand screen-printing) your invitations!! And the things is! we don't even HAVE a B-list. We basically have known who we want to invite and it hasn't changed- but we were just lagging about getting addresses from everyone. haha. So, one of our friends (who is getting married in August and is so on the ball that he has already rounded up addresses of many of our mutual friends) generously shared much of his info and we have facebook and gmail to thank for the gathering of much of the remainder of our guest's addresses. This, of course, is excluding the addresses of many of our parent's guests, because for some reason, no matter how many times you ask for a guest list, they can't seem to get one together. And the answer almost always is "don't worry - it's not that long." ha! yeah right! oh, but that is another story, for another post.

Anyways, just thought I would include that we are sending out our invitations tomorrow!!! (whee!) and I think both eddie and I (and our bridesmaids, family and close friends) are all happy to be done with them! hehe. Big shout outs and MUCH love to Alice unnie, Kitty unnie, Connie, Esther, Bonny, Ellen and even Richie! Thank you for being a part of our invitation sweat-shop. These invitations would not have been possible without all of your help! And they mean so much more to us knowing that they were hand-made with love ;) Connie also took some pictures of the process, so I will have to get a hold of them and post them soon, or once they are on her blog!! ;) But in the meantime, here is one she sent me! Yes - those are our hand-made flowers, which I alluded to before. And those are our RSVP cards!

Also! have to be a big dork and mention that we are sending invitations to President Obama and Mickey and Minnie Mouse. lol. These are two addresses I have had for a very long time, with this specfic purpose in mind! ;) Okay, so we know they are not going to come, but they DO send you back a cool letter and sometimes picture congratulating you on your marriage and all that good stuff. we are SOOO happy we postponed the wedding and will be getting married under Obama's Presidency (the letter will be signed by him and Michelle!) and NOT George W's. He definitely would NOT have been invited. lol... and Mickey and Minnie get an invite since Eddie proposed to me at Disneyland and the letter we get back from them will be a perfect addition to our scrapbook! Probably right next to this picture!
