The Florals - Commerce Flowers

Monday, September 28, 2009

I realized that in the flurry of launching {So Happi Together}, it has been a long while since I blogged about my vendor reviews. I blogged about my pre-wedding experience with Commerce Flowers before, but thought I would follow up with my overall review. I would definitely give Eddie at Commerce Flowers an A++ for his design, hard work and willingness to work within my budget!

I was on a budget, but also an adamant No-Rose bride and he worked with that. Most of the flowers I wanted are pricier, but he arranged them in a way that gave me more bang for my buck! My centerpieces were all low in order to keep costs down, but also to match the "casual elegance" mood that we were hoping to create. My key words for florals were lush, romantic, garden-y but not messy. I didn't want a garden-run-wild look. But I did want them to look somewhat like they were fresh picked flowers that just happened to fall beautifully together in a golden urn. :)

We used a combination of peonies, ranunculus, sweet pea, tulips, lisianthus, green viburnum and maidenhair fern for the centerpieces. My bouquet incorporated many of the same flowers along with my favorite - lily of the valley. And my bridesmaids bouquets were smaller versions with a concentration on brighter shades of pinks.

The altar was flanked by two simple and modern arrangements of gorgeous pink hydrangeas and we re-purposed these at the reception site by using them to flank the head table as well. Ranunculus were used to decorate the cake, which Eddie kindly arranged on the day of the wedding.

The ring boy pillow was made of green mums and the flower girl pomander was made of pink mums. Our sweet friends, William and Connie, are in the fashion industry and donated a large roll of lovely off-white satin fabric to us and Eddie used it to decorate the aisle along the pews, which he also embellished with just the perfect amount of rose petals (the only place roses made an appearance at the wedding!). He also provided custom colored wood trays of mood moss for us to place our hand-made escort flowers.

We used the bridesmaids bouquets to decorate the head table along with a low arrangement on the center of the table. The guest table at the church and reception was decorated with bunches of tulips, hydrangeas and ranunculus in separate, tiered vases and bowls. I LOVED it!

But my favorite part was the way Eddie was able to incorporate a locket with my father's picture into my bouquet. A week or so before the wedding, I dropped off the locket and ribbon (the same ribbon used all through out the wedding) at Commerce and the morning of the wedding, seeing it all pulled together literally brought tears to my eyes. To this day, when I see pictures of my bouquet I choke up!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience than what I received with Eddie at Commerce. They are so laid back and sweet that you feel like you are working with family (in a good way!) who just happens to have a ton of floral knowledge and experience!! ;) Their store is two levels because they just have that much stuff and that many gigs! But you would never know it... you will feel like you are their only bride because of the attention you receive. If you have your flowers done through Eddie, I am confident that you will be in good hands!

Eddie was my second choice for flowers (he was my now-husband's uber first choice). He loved the fact that Eddie focused on getting the best for our money. I should have totes listen the mister on this one. Your flowers were positively divine! The colors were amazing and the styling absolutely perfect. Beautiful!
