the Last Dance!

No, not this disco-licious last Dance... although Donna Summer is pretty awesome!

I mean the Last Dance of your wedding night! In the midst of all the wedding planning details, this is often overlooked. I would say that the music selection for the last dance is almost as important as the song you pick for the First Dance. You want to end the night on a high note that will linger far into you and your guests' car rides home. I think it is better to end the night when everyone is still having a great time on the dance floor, rather than letting the DJ play on and on for the last 2 or 3 people who are drunken dancing. :)

With that said, if I had to choose something I regret from our nearly perfect wedding day, it would have to be the fact that we didn't take the time to voice our choice for a last dance song and didn't spend more time dancing. We had a few songs in mind and figured we would tell our coordinator or DJ the day before the wedding, but of course, it slipped our minds! Also, we just didn't spend enough time on the dance floor. I LOVE to dance... but because of technical difficulties and delay we had with our slideshow and cinema reale, I personally wanted to put off dancing until after the screening so that older guests wouldn't think that the wedding was "over" and leave, because that is what dancing cues for them. Go figure... This doesn't mean we didn't have a ton of our guests enjoying the music and dance floor, but Eddie and I spent more time mingling and thanking old family and friends during this time. I didn't want to be rude... so I made the rounds. But, in hindsight, I realize that guests wouldn't have seen us dancing as being rude, and maybe they would have enjoyed it more to just dance with us and mingle on the dance floor! :)

In any case, we were torn between ending with a slow romantic song, or an upbeat party song. I just couldn't think of the right upbeat song and had SO MANY slow ones that I would have loved to use. haha.

Some of our choices included:

Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill - Turn Your Lights Down Low

Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat - Lucky

The Beatles - In My Life

Marvin Gaye - Let's Get it On

Etta James - At Last

and of course:

Adam Sandler - Grow Old With You

Any unique Last Dance suggestions?
