Product Rave Review - MAC liquidlast eyeliner

Monday, November 9, 2009

I do not have the "double-fold" eyelid thing that makes your eyes look bigger, brighter and also helps when it comes to applying and keeping on eye makeup. I am also pretty teary-eyed, I don't know why. I just tear-up a lot and it can be caused by something sweet, sad or even just a strong wind. Whenever spring comes around, my allergies kick up like crazy and I am almost completely reliant on Claritin-D if I want to drive anywhere without crashing.

Why do I share all of this? Because I have been through my fair share of eyeliner trials and tribulations to finally find the PERFECT liquid eyeliner!! Seriously, I have tried nearly every brand out there, not skimping on cost because when it comes to makeup, I have my few staples and I am willing to splurge on these. In any case, I wear my eyeliner under my lash line and draw it out into a "wing-tip" on the outer corner of my eye. During my engagement, I knew that I needed to find a liner that would go beyond surviving my daily teariness, and be able to withstand the opening of floodgates on the day of my wedding.

I found this in the black MAC liquidlast liner. I love that the black is a real black. But this liner also comes in several other classic and trendy shades, which is really cool. I cried (tears of joy) throughout my whole wedding day and this liner didn't budge. I think my hair/makeup artist even started using the liner for her other clients!

The one drawback is the brush. It's not HORRIBLE, but it's not the best. So, I use the MAC eyeliner brush, just to make my life easier because it allows for much more control in application. Also, make sure you use an oil-based eye makeup remover, or you will not be able to get it off. When they say it's water proof, it really is water proof. It will never flake or rub off. I hope this proves to be useful for some of you brides out there!

Now, I just need to find a water-proof mascara that works just as well. Any suggestions?

i'm so glad i bought it after you told me about it. i don't have double lids too so i don't like using liquid, but seriously... the under the lash technique plus the waterproofness is amazing. and this is coming from a wedding photog who needs her makeup to stay in place. lol. would love to hear about the waterproof mascara too. one that doesn't give you raccoon eyes after 5 hours.

Ok I know this post is from last year - BUT I have SUCH a good answer. Imju Fiberwig mascara is a godsend for those of us who were not blessed with thick natural lashes. It's huge in Japan which made me pay attention. This stuff is billed as "paint on false eyelashes" and I have to say it's pretty darn great. I have given it as a recommendation to other friends with VERY positive responses. They have it at Sephora and it's about 26 bucks. I also have bad allergies and rub my eyes more than I should and I'm always impressed with how budge-less it is.
